Tomorrow's the big day...

Tomorrow I will take the test to see if I am still diabetic. I think it will be positive. I know that's not what they mean when they say, "Think positive." But I am just being realistic. I still have all of the symptoms. I could be wrong, though, and hopefully I am. I need to start taking better care of myself. I should be on the diabetic diet anyway, whether the test tomorrow is negative or positive, because I am at such a big risk for it now that I have had gestational diabetes. Besides that, I need to get these extra 50 pounds off. The sad part is that only 10 of that 50 is pregnancy weight. The rest has accumulated over the past three years due to surgery, enormous doses of antibiotics, pain pills, Zofran, Phenergen, synthetic hormones, and bladder medication, as well as lack of exercise and poor eating habits. Next week is my 6 week checkup, so I can start exercising after that. That's when I'll get my test results too. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Happy One Month Birthday Sadie!

I can't believe you are already one month old! At your checkup, you weighed 9 lbs and 5 oz. and you have already grown an inch. The doctor said you are very strong, smart, and healthy. Even though you are technically not supposed to smile until next week, you have already smiled at me, your daddy, and Sibley this week. Also, you slept from 9:30 last night until 3:30 this morning. Oh Happy Day! And I'm so glad you did, because the night before you had me up to feed you every two hours on the dot. You have quite the appetite, little lady Sadie.

P.S. I didn't get any pictures of you last week because your rascal sisters lost my camera. Thank goodness your daddy found it in time for your blessing. And Grandaddy saved the day by emailing me some pictures he took.

P.S.S. If y'all are wondering why I talk to Sadie in these posts, it's because I will later have these printed out and turned into her baby book.

The Birthday Cake...

I let Skyler and Sibley pick out the birthday cake this year for Bryant and his friend Jared, whose birthday is one day after Bryant's. This is what they chose...

Twins...

So.....this is where Sibley gets this behavior from. Mystery solved.

Happy 35th Birthday Big Daddy!

Bryant turned 35 on Saturday. He's so easy to please. We got him a couple of Wii games and the Slade man diet staples - easy cheese, wheat thins, peanuts, and cashews - and he was pleased as punch. After we picked Grandmama and Grandaddy up from the airport, they took us to dinner. We had a great time! Grandaddy entertained us. (He is all doped up on pain pills because he threw his back out. Poor fella. I have to say, though, it made for a pretty good time, as you can see from the pictures.)

Sadie's Blessing

We were so happy to have Grandaddy, Grandmama, Grandma, Grandpa, the Wallentines, and the Wochs over for Sadie's blessing. It was a beautiful Sunday and Sadie was so good during the blessing. She didn't make a peep.

Grandma made her blessing gown for her and it is so beautiful. I need to get some pictures of just her in her gown this week and post them on here.

For lunch, Grandmama and Grandaddy made camp stew and Grandma made cornbread. We had birthday cake for dessert. Everything was delicious.

Thanks everyone for making Sadie's blessing extra special!

Murderer!

Look at this precious little bird Mama Kitty killed and brought to the door. Usually she just brings me inanimate white objects. For some reason she is obsessed with white. I get paper, tissue, and once I even got a long white string. But sometimes the instinctive drive to kill wells up within her and she brings me little innocent animals like this one.

Free Enfamil-

Do any of you use Enfamil? Know anyone who uses Enfamil? I have some coupons and unopened cans I would love to get rid of.

We miss you Grandmama!

Thanks again for everything! I think of you everyday when I get to park in my garage! We can't wait to see you again next weekend. We love you.

Congratulations Skyler - The Golden Scholar!

We are so proud of our Skyler! We got a letter informing us that she is a Gilbert Public Schools Golden Scholar because of her good grades. She will be honored at a dinner next month.

Also, she is such a good big sister and a great helper. Thanks Skyler! And thanks to all of you who bought from her fundraiser. She raised all of her camp money and turned it in at church yesterday.

Sibley The Nurse

I think when Sibley grows up, she will be a nurse or a doctor. She has been my personal nurse for the past few months. She would get out my bloodsugar monitor, get it ready, prick my finger, take my bloodsugar, and record it. If it was high, she would write "bad" by it. Thanks Sibley! Hopefully the days of having to take my bloodsugar are coming to an end.

I had to put this picture of her and Sadie in here because she is such a good big sister. She loves holding that Baby Sadie!

Happy Three Week Birthday Sadie!

Last week you:

went on your first walk outside.

lost your umbilical cord.

I love it when you:

open your mouth to eat when you hear my voice, even if I am on the other side of the room.

move your hands around slowly in front of your upper body like you know karate.

When I leave Sadie...

When I leave Sadie to run errands, I come home and Bryant has filled the camera with videos like this...

Growing Like A Weed...A Really Chubby Weed...

These pictures were taken less than two weeks apart...
I'm so amazed at how fast she's growing. She's already grown out of her newborn diapers.

This Old Thing?

When my mother was here, we cleaned out the garage. Mama found a save box of Sibley's and pulled this dress out. Georgia had made it for Sibley when she was born. I had to put it on her and take a picture.
P.S. When Mama found it, it had gross brown storage spots on it. That woman miraculously got them out and had it looking brand new again in no time flat.

Easter 2010

Oops! The Easter Bunny forgot about Sadie!

We didn't get any pictures of the fun we had later, but we had Grandmama, Grandma, Grandpa, and the Wallentines over and had several Easter Egg Hunts as well as a great dinner! We hope y'all had a good Easter too.

Sneaky Skyler...

We found a couple of surprise shots Skyler took last week on the camera. One was a rare one of Grandmama sleeping. The other two are of a very common occurrence - Sibley sucking her thumb and picking her nose at the same time. What can I say? She is a multitasker.

Sadie's First Tummy Time

The Delivery

Warning: This post is not for the squeamish.

On Monday, the 22nd, I went to the doctor and she told me I was at a 4 and 70% effaced. Even though I was only 37 weeks, I knew Sadie was well over 7 lbs. because of all of the ultrasounds. And I knew it wouldn't be long, because my contractions had gotten really hard again, but just not regular. The doctor said she didn't think I would go much longer than a few more days too. She went ahead and stripped my membranes too, to hurry things along. We were both worried about blood sugar and blood pressure, but neither one was quite bad enough to warrant an induction just yet.

So, the stripping of the membranes must have helped, because I had hard contractions that night and by morning they were 7 minutes apart. I wanted to hurry and get to the hospital, though, because I was bleeding so badly. I was losing these big red blood clots. I called my sister in law, Donna, who is a labor and delivery nurse, and described to her what was going on and she told me to go to the hospital.

So Bryant dropped me off at the hospital and carried the girls to school on Tuesday morning, the 23rd. Then he came back to the hospital and we waited on the doctor for just a little while. She came in and didn't like all of the bleeding, so she said we should have the baby that day. We were elated. All I needed was a little pitosin to speed things along.

The worst part was the IV. For some reason my veins were in such bad shape that every time they tried to put in an IV, my vein would blow. My nurse tried twice and then called another nurse to try. That nurse tried twice and wasn't successful, so she called another nurse. That nurse wasn't successful either, so they called in the big guns - the anesthesiologist. He tried once and didn't get it, but then he was finally able to get one higher up on my arm. Yay! Then they started the pitosin, I got an epidural soon thereafter, and things were progressing well.

For some reason, Sadie started getting distressed. Her heart rate was going down no matter what position I was in. They gave me an oxygen mask to get more oxygen to her. Then they broke my water and it was stained with meconium. We knew she was in trouble then, but luckily I was already fully dilated and it was time to push. I pushed a good ten times and she was out.

When they handed her to me, she didn't look real. She was so purple. I was very worried about her, as you can see from the pictures and film. The nurses tried to get her to cry and they suctioned out her lungs to get the meconium out. They worked on her for a good half hour, I would say, and in the end, she was fine. We are thankful she came out so quickly and everything was alright. She was born at 2:35 P.M. It was perfect timing too. When the girls got out of school at 3:30, Gwen picked them up and brought them right over to see their new baby sister.
